Biosketch
Claudia Rimerman, MBA, is an executive with twenty years experience creating businesses in the health care and insurance industries. In 2007 she founded Merritt Advisors, which provides strategic advisory services to start-up and early stage ventures as well as established firms in growth, restructure, or turnaround mode. Core competencies include defining a client’s corporate strategy and its addressable market; identifying profitable growth opportunities for existing revenue lines; generating new and innovative product concepts; and executing these strategies to achieve and sustain revenue objectives. In addition to serving businesses across a wide range of industries, Merritt Advisors targets clients engaged in insurance, benefits and health care.
Representative engagements include:
- The strategic redefinition of a medical clinic manager as an outsourced provider of medical expertise, creating new revenue opportunities and business initiatives in retail distribution, web-based delivery, worksite health provision and wellness programs;
- Creating a Product Development/Product Life Cycle Management infrastructure and developing Hispanic Market distribution and product strategies for a life and health insurer;
- Development of a Congressional lobbying campaign and education program to enable a Limited Medical insurer to participate in the Health Care Reform process;
- Facilitating a multi-state distribution partnership between a benefits underwriter and a medical provider organization to enable the MPO to custom design, private label and distribute an insurance plan to its patients;
- Supporting a financial services firm in its exploration of strategic opportunities in health care payments and revenue cycle management;
- Sourcing distribution relationships for a firm that provides niche benefit products;
- The creation of a prepaid membership concept for a health care delivery system.
Prior to founding Merritt Advisors, Ms. Rimerman managed the creation of a specified-benefit health insurance product for American International Group’s domestic insurance division and served as the primary relationship manager between AIG and some of its largest distribution partners in the New York marketplace. Previously, Ms. Rimerman was employed by UnitedHealth Group as National Sales Director of a unique Group Medicare Product she created. Ms. Rimerman also developed advertising and new products for Physician Corporation of America (acquired by Humana Inc.), constructed provider networks for Humana’s HMO, and managed operations for the mental health/substance abuse contractor of MetLife Health Care in New York.
