Biosketch
Dr. Summers is currently employed as an Associate Professor at the Purdue University School of Pharmacy. Prior to joining Purdue University, Dr. Summers was employed for seven years at Eli Lilly and Company as a Senior Research Scientist in Outcomes Research. He joined Lilly from Prudential Health Care, where he was Vice President - Clinical Programs and Pharmacoeconomic Research. In this position, he was responsible for all clinical programs in Prudential’s pharmacy benefits management organization, including maintenance of the Prudential national formulary, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, drug information services, pharmaceutical industry rebates and contract administration, drug utilization evaluation, disease state management programs and pharmacoeconomic research.
Dr. Summers has authored five book chapters, co-edited a book and published 45 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as 32 editorials, book reviews and articles in trade publications. Also, he has authored 17 continuing education monographs and reports. In addition, he has given over 123 presentations to domestic and international scientific and trade audiences. Dr. Summers serves on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy and Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research. He is active in the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, serving as a member of the Board of Directors (2000-2002) and Chair of the Awards Committee (1998-2000), as well as the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. |
